The Viamed Santa Elena Hospital began its journey in the field of private medicine on July 2, 1959, at which time the San José de Gerona religious institute acquired a five-story urban estate in Madrid. Six years later, on August 18, 1965, the Viamed Santa Elena Hospital was inaugurated as we know it today, focusing on various surgical specialties and the maternity area. At that time, it only had 55 rooms, a surgical block, another for mothers and children, and some complementary services.

During the early 1980s, an annex building was built, at which time the Viamed Santa Elena Hospital had 79 rooms, an intensive care unit, an imaging diagnostic unit, and an outpatient area.

In the 1990s, Viamed Santa Elena Clinic expanded its capacity to 110 beds by building a new annex building. The capacity of the diagnostic imaging service would also be expanded by including a Helicoidal CT scan and an MRI, in addition to creating its own clinical analysis laboratory, a blood bank and a room with capacity for more than 100 people.
