Information of Sedation Phimosis Surgery (Circumcision) in Lucena

  • Information on Sedation Phimosis Surgery in Lucena

Phimosis is a pathology defined as the narrowing of the opening of the foreskin that prevents the glans from being partially or completely uncovered.
This condition makes it difficult to maintain proper penile hygiene and, in addition, often causes pain during sexual intercourse.

The main causes to which this disorder is related are congenital, i.e. you are born with it. But young and adult men can also suffer from this disease, and there are several factors that cause them to develop it:

    • Successive balanoposthitis: this is inflammation of the glans and foreskin as a result of infection or the use of very aggressive soaps for hygiene, certain types of balanitis (penile infection).
    • Penile trauma.

In order to solve the problems and limitations caused by phimosis, the definitive procedure is circumcision. Below we explain the whole process and how to manage it through Operarme en the Hospital Centro de Andalucia | Amaveca de Lucena with the Urology Team of Hospital Centro de Andalucia.

  • Phimosis surgery, circumcision, with Operarme requires a series of phases necessary to carry out the intervention with the maximum possible safety and success rates. To do so, you must carry out the following steps:

    • Request your first free and immediate consultation with our specialists in urology, from the Urology Service. You can do this through our contact form, by calling +34 91 141 33 56 or by clicking on any of the appointment request buttons on the website.
    • Our patient care team will call you to confirm that the date and time of the consultation is suitable for your needs.
    • After that, you will have to go to the consultation on the agreed date.

Consultation with the Urology Team of Hospital Centro de Andalucia

In the assessment consultation, the specialist will ask you about the symptoms you perceive and the discomfort caused by phimosis, explaining the possibilities provided by the intervention.

After the consultation, the following day, Operarme's patient care department will contact you to see how the consultation went and to confirm whether or not you have decided to have the surgery. If so, your personal patient care advisor will arrange the day of the coagulation analysis, if necessary, as well as the day of admission to the hospital, explaining all the steps to follow, in terms of documentation, payment for the surgery, etc., as well as answering any queries you may have during the process.

Preliminary study and consultation with the anaesthesiologist

On the day set for the coagulation analysis, you must come with the necessary documentation (don't worry, our patient care team will have indicated this to you). Only one test will be performed there:

    • Coagulation analysis. This test is done to check for signs of infection, as this could lead to unwanted post-operative infections that could cause major complications.

Normally, in more complex surgeries, several additional tests are performed, such as a chest x-ray or electrocardiogram. In the case of phimosis surgery, as it is a very simple operation that is performed in little more than 20 minutes under local anaesthesia and sedation, it is not necessary.

In the case of phimosis surgery, circumcision, the anaesthesia used is local anaesthesia with sedation, so you will remain asleep throughout the operation. We must remember that it is an outpatient procedure that takes between 20-30 minutes and that you will be able to go home after recovering from the effects of the anaesthesia without the need for hospitalisation.

Once you have cleared up the preliminary study and the anaesthesia, all you have to do is go to the hospital on the day of the surgery.

  • You will be positioned on the stretcher in the way the surgeon instructs you, which is usually on your back with your legs raised and spread, and you will be covered with a surgical sheet over everything except the area to be operated on. Next, the anaesthetist will administer sedation so that you remain asleep during the surgery:

    1. Next, they will wash and disinfect the penis and then administer the local anaesthetic to the area, waiting briefly until it takes effect to start the surgery.
    2. Once the anaesthetic has taken effect, the specialist will section off the remaining part of the foreskin and place the necessary stitches.
    3. After that, he or she will bandage the operated area and finish the process.

You will then be taken to a post-surgical room where you will recover from the effects of the anaesthesia. You will normally stay in the hospital for 2-3 hours until the anaesthesia wears off.

As soon as you have recovered from the effects of the sedation and anaesthesia, you will be able to get dressed and will be discharged home.

  • The price of the Phimosis Operation with Sedation (Circumcision) with Operarme is 1.090 €, being a closed and all-inclusive price.

The price includes all the necessary elements to carry out the surgery as safely as possible:

    • Booking and use of the operating theatre.
    • Coagulation analysis according to medical indications.
    • Medical fees and assistants, until medical discharge.
    • Localised anaesthesia and sedation.
    • Surgical material necessary for the operation.
    • Check-ups until medical discharge according to the specialist's criteria.

You will also have continuous contact with our patient care team in case you have any doubts, and you can contact your personal patient care advisor directly, by +34 91 141 33 56 or by the contact form. We will be delighted to help you.
