The implantation of the artificial urinary sphincter is a procedure performed at the Viamed Fuensanta Hospital in Madrid by the Dr. Manuel Fernández Arjona.

1. First, the doctor will insert a catheter to ensure that the bladder is empty during the surgery.
2. Next, an incision will be made in the perineum and another in the suprapubic area.
3. Then, the cuff will be placed around the urethra.
4. After that, the reservoir will be inserted beneath the abdominal muscles.
5. Finally, the pump will be placed in the scrotum (for men) or in the labia (for women) and connected to the other components of the device.
