• What does having grade 2 prostatic hyperplasia mean?

  The normal size of the prostate is typically around 2–3 centimetres with a volume of approximately 20 cubic centimetres.

  A patient is considered to have grade 2 prostatic hyperplasia when the size of the prostate is three times larger than normal.

  Although it may sound unusual, this condition is actually quite common in men over the age of 60.

  Essentially, grade 2 prostatic hyperplasia means having difficulty urinating: problems with urination, a weak urinary flow, or an increased need to urinate—particularly at night—are some of the common consequences of having grade 2 prostatic hyperplasia.

  The definitive solution is prostate surgery. In cases where the prostate has a significantly increased volume, the recommended approach is the HoLEP technique, also known as Holmium laser surgery. 

• How many days of rest are needed after prostate surgery?

  After laser prostate surgery, the recovery period may be shorter compared to a radical prostatectomy.

  Some patients may only need a few days of rest at home before gradually resuming their normal activities.

• What after-effects can remain after prostate surgery?
