High-field MRI scan with contrast in Barcelona

High-field magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) with contrast is a diagnostic test that, through images and the use of contrast, allows detailed exploration of the areas of the body that need to be thoroughly examined. To carry out this detailed diagnosis, a 3-tesla MRI machine is used, which makes it possible to detect multiple lesions that might be barely visible with other types of MRI scans.

On the day of the test, you do not need to do anything special. In some cases, it may be necessary to fast for at least six hours, but your doctor will inform you of this when prescribing the test.

Once at the facility, you will be given a gown and asked to remove all metal objects. You will then lie on the movable table so that the area of your body to be examined is within the magnetic field of the scanner. Before starting the scan, the technician will administer the contrast agent through a small tube in your arm or hand. Once injected, the contrast travels through the bloodstream to help distinguish healthy tissues from diseased ones in specific areas. This technique assists healthcare professionals in assessing the results of the scan more effectively.

During the MRI, you may hear loud noises, such as knocking or tapping sounds. You may be provided with earplugs or headphones with music to help reduce the noise.

When the high-field MRI is complete, you will come out of the machine and can go home without any problem.

On the day of the High-Field MRI with contrast you must bring your medical prescription with you at the clinic selected in Barcelona.
