Breast MRI scan (with contrast) in Ponferrada

A breast MRI scan with contrast is an examination that can detect breast cancer as well as other breast abnormalities. A breast MRI captures multiple images of the breasts. The breast MRI images are combined using a computer to create detailed images.

On the day of the test, you must attend the appointment having fasted for a minimum of 6 hours since this test is performed with intravenous contrast; however, your doctor will advise you on this when they issue your medical prescription.

Once there, you will be given a gown and asked to remove all metallic objects. Next, you will lie on the moving table in such a way that the body areas to be examined are within the viewing field of the machine's magnet.

Before starting the test, the technician will administer the contrast liquid intravenously.

During the MRI scan, you may hear loud noises, such as tapping or other sounds, so you might be given earplugs or have music played to reduce the noise.

When the breast MRI scan is finished, you will exit the machine and can return home without any problems.
