Dr. Ildefonso Santos García-Vaquero

Dr. Ildefonso Santos García-Vaquero, also known by patients and colleagues as Ildefonso Santos, graduated in Medicine and Surgery from the Complutense University of Madrid in 1975. After that, he graduated in the speciality of Urology through the MIR. 

Later, he furthered his academic training with a Doctorate in Medicine and Surgery, which he obtained with a Cum Laude qualification.

Experience as Specialist in Urology

In regards to Dr. Ildefonso Santos García-Vaquero 's experience as a specialist in Urology, it is worth highlighting his work as Head of Endourology at the Carlos Haya Hospital in Malaga.

It is also important to highlight that he is the most advanced urology specialist in Spain in the use of the Holmium Laser for the treatment of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) and for renal, ureteral and vesical lithiasis (stones).

Dr. Ildefonso Santos García-Vaquero has extensive experience as a specialist in Urology, which is why he is also the director of several courses in this specialty.

On the one hand, he has been the director of the Laparoscopy and Ureterorenoscopy courses at the Minimally Invasive Surgery Centre in Cáceres since 2000. He was also director of the Ureterorenoscopy training course at the National Urology Congress from 2001 to 2005. Finally, it is worth mentioning his work, since 2002, as director of the laparoscopy courses held at the Carlos Haya Regional Hospital in Malaga, where he is currently Head of Endourology.

In addition, it is important to mention Dr. Ildefonso's membership in several urology associations such as the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC), the different urology associations: American, European, Colombian and Spanish, including that of Andalusia.

Finally, it is worth mentioning the number of academic contributions made. He has made 125 communications at national and international level. He has also participated in round tables, conferences, articles and live broadcasts on urological surgery at national and international congresses.
