Performance of the diagnostic test
The purchase of the service includes the performance of the diagnostic test in the selected city and hospital.

Results in digital format
Once you have taken the test, the centre will specify how long the results will take and will provide them to you in digital format.
Each centre has its own way of providing the results: some will send them to you by email, others will send them via their own apps or online platforms. In either case, the centre team will tell you how to access them at the end of the test.

NOT Included - Medical prescription
In Spain, a medical prescription is required for any diagnostic test. If you do not have one, you will need to see a specialist beforehand to obtain one.
Below, we explain the process step by step, whether you have it or not:
If you have a medical prescription
- Purchase the test as normal.
- Immediately afterwards, we will send you the instructions for you to send us the medical prescription to the e-mail address you used to make the purchase, so that we can manage the appointment.
- With the medical prescription we will be able to check that the diagnostic test purchased corresponds to the one indicated by the specialist.
- We will arrange your appointment with a date and time so that you can go to the hospital of your choice to undergo the test.
You do not have a medical prescription
If you do not have a medical prescription, Operarme will arrange a consultation with one of our specialists at a preferential price (subject to availability in the area). Contact us for more information.
During the consultation you will be able to inform the doctor about the test you need. He/she may ask you for a report in relation to your medical problem, if the test you need to have requires it.
If you do not have a prescription or report associated with the reason for the diagnostic test, it is likely that you will be referred to a face-to-face consultation. If this is your case, contact us for advice on how to proceed.
Remember: on the day of the test you must bring and show the Operarme voucher and the medical prescription.

Refund if test is not carried out
If after purchasing the test you decide not to take it or the date of the appointment does not suit your needs, you can request a refund. In these cases, we will refund you the full amount of your purchase without any problem.
To do so, please contact our customer service team before the date of the appointment, and we will manage the refund quickly and easily.

What should you take into account before purchasing the medical voucher for pelvis x-ray?
It is necessary to have a medical petition for x-rays. In the event that you don’t have one, you can purchase a private consultation with one of our specialists in Bilbao, who will assess your medical problem or symptoms and if the doctor considers necessary, he/she will hand you a medical prescription for having x-rays.
Once you’ve purchased the Pelvis X-ray test, you will automatically receive an email with your medical voucher, information regarding the service and the hospital, and also an invoice of the test purchased.
Right after, you have to call the selected hospital/clinic’s contact number (indicated in the voucher), and request an appointment to take the test.
On the day of the appointment, you will need to take the prescription with you. If you attend without a prescription, it’s likely that the hospital staff may refer you to a private consultation first. This consultation is not included in the price of the Pelvis X-ray test you purchase on Operarme’s website and it is possible that the cost of the consultation at the hospital is higher than the preferential price published on our website for Operarme patients.

How is a 2-view Pelvis X-ray performed?
On the day of the X-ray testing, the medical team at the Clínica Guimón will give you a robe and ask you to remove any metallic objects you might wear on you. It's highly important that you inform the technician if you are pregnant, or have any metallic object or parts in the pelvis area, such as a prosthesis or piercings.

Purchase ServiceRight after, the technician will give you instructions on the positions you need to take for the scanning. A 2-views Pelvis X-ray usually involves the anteroposterior (AP) and lateral views:

Preparation: As mentioned above, you will need to remove any metal objects, such as jewellery, belts or clothing with metal fasteners, as they may interfere with the image quality. In addition, you may be given a hospital gown to avoid overlapping clothing that may obstruct the view of the pelvis.

Patient position: you will lie on an examination table, usually in the supine position, i.e. face up.

Anteroposterior (AP) view: in this view, the X-ray machine is positioned in front of you and the image is taken from the front to the back of the body. Your position may vary, depending on what your doctor prescribes to be viewed. In some cases, lead shields may be used to protect other parts of the body that do not need to be exposed to radiation.

Lateral view: in this view you will be positioned on your side, usually with your knees bent and the side of your pelvis to be X-rayed in contact with the X-ray plate.
After taking both images, the test will be completed. The radiologist will check the images to be sure that these have the quality required before the patient leaves the Clínica Guimón.

Once the X-ray has been taken, the radiologist at the Clínica Guimón will prepare a report with the interpretation of the images extracted from the 2-views Pelvis X-ray.
After a few days, you will receive the results. Normally, you will be given the tests in digital format, as well as a report specifying the most important observations of the test. However, you can find out how and when the results will be delivered on the day of the test or when you call at the Clínica Guimón to make an appointment.

Is the radiation from an X-ray dangerous?
Generally, x-rays are safe and don’t cause severe side effects . However, as with any medical procedure involving radiation, there is a small risk associated with the exposure of X-rays; thus it is always important that this type of test is prescribed by a specialist based on your state of health.
The amount of radiation in an x-ray is quite low and is only limited to the area of the body to be examined. The exposure to radiation is generally compared to the natural exposure that we receive in our daily environment.

If you need a prescription, you can first purchase and attend a private consultation with one of our specialists and tell the doctor about the symptoms you have; if the doctor considers an X-ray is necessary, he/she will hand you a prescription for the test.
