What is included?

  • The purchase of the service includes the performance of the diagnostic test in the selected city and hospital.

  • Once you have taken the test, the centre will specify how long the results will take and will provide them to you in digital format.

Each centre has its own way of providing the results: some will send them to you by email, others will send them via their own apps or online platforms. In either case, the centre team will tell you how to access them at the end of the test.

  • In Spain, a medical prescription is required for any diagnostic test. If you do not have one, you will need to see a specialist beforehand to obtain one.

Below, we explain the process step by step, whether you have it or not:

If you have a medical prescription

    1. Purchase the test as normal.
    2. Immediately afterwards, we will send you the instructions for you to send us the medical prescription to the e-mail address you used to make the purchase, so that we can manage the appointment.
      1. With the medical prescription we will be able to check that the diagnostic test purchased corresponds to the one indicated by the specialist.
    3. We will arrange your appointment with a date and time so that you can go to the hospital of your choice to undergo the test.

You do not have a medical prescription

If you do not have a medical prescription, Operarme will arrange a consultation with one of our specialists at a preferential price (subject to availability in the area). Contact us for more information.

During the consultation you will be able to inform the doctor about the test you need. He/she may ask you for a report in relation to your medical problem, if the test you need to have requires it.

If you do not have a prescription or report associated with the reason for the diagnostic test, it is likely that you will be referred to a face-to-face consultation. If this is your case, contact us for advice on how to proceed.

Remember: on the day of the test you must bring and show the Operarme voucher and the medical prescription.

  • If after purchasing the test you decide not to take it or the date of the appointment does not suit your needs, you can request a refund. In these cases, we will refund you the full amount of your purchase without any problem.

To do so, please contact our customer service team before the date of the appointment, and we will manage the refund quickly and easily.

Information of Foot X-Ray (2 views)

01. Information about Foot X-Ray (2 views)

If you need to have a foot x-ray (2 views), in Operarme you can purchase this service only at 40 € and detect any damage or anomaly that you may have in the foot.

What should you take into account before purchasing the medical voucher for foot x-ray?

It is necessary to have a medical petition for x-rays. In the event that you don’t have one, you can purchase a private consultation with one of our specialists, who will assess your medical problem or symptoms and if the doctor considers necessary, he/she will hand you a medical prescription for having x-rays.

Once you purchase the foot x-ray (2 views), you will automatically receive an email with your medical voucher, information regarding the service and the hospital, and also an invoice of the test purchased.

Right after, you have to call the selected hospital/clinic’s contact number (indicated in the voucher), and request an appointment to have the x-ray.

On the day of the appointment, you will need to take the prescription with you. If you attend without a prescription, it’s likely that the hospital staff may refer you to a private consultation first. This consultation is not included in the price of the X-ray (2 views) test you purchase on Operarme’s website and it is possible that the cost of the consultation at the hospital is higher than the preferential price published on our website for Operarme patients.

If you need another type of X-ray, you can check our diagnostic tests section and choose the one that best suits your needs (knee, hip and foot x-rays of 2 views, or 4 views).

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our Patient Service Team on +34 91 141 33 56, or leave a contact form and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

02. What is a Foot X-ray (2 views)?

A foot x-ray (2 views) is an medical image exam that uses x-rays to obtain images of the bones and articulations of the foot.

A 2-view x-ray of the foot is generally a frontal image (antero-posterior) and an oblique one of the foot.

In the anterior-posterior view, an image of the foot is taken from the front to the back, while in the oblique projection the foot is placed in an inclined or oblique position, at a specific angle to the X-ray source.

This position allows a better view of the anatomical structures of the foot in an oblique angle, which provides a detailed view of certain structures.

Both views help the radiologist to assess clearly the bone structure of the foot, including the ankle bones, the foot itself and the toes.

03. What is a 2-view Foot X-ray used for?

A 2-views foot x-ray is an useful diagnostic tool to assess a variety of medical conditions in the foot, which allows doctors to identify the source of pain and discomfort in the foot, and then recommend the patient the best treatment.

Some of the medical causes to perform this diagnostic test are the following:

  • Pain in the foot: this x-ray is useful to determine the root cause of the pain suffered by the patient. The scan can detect fractures, bone deformity, arthritis, sprain and other issues.
  • Injuries: in cases of fractures or sprains, an x-ray can be helpful to assess the reach of the injury and prescribe the best treatment.
  • Deformities: this scan helps to assess and diagnose deformities in the foot such as bunions, hammer toes, and flat feet.
  • Pre-operative assessment: before foot surgery, an x-ray can help the surgeon to plan the procedure beforehand and evaluate the bone structure of the foot, before the procedure.
  • Treatment assessment: it may be useful to evaluate a treatment, such as cast or a splint, and check if the treatment is working to treat the injury or condition.

Generally, a foot x-ray is quite important as a diagnostic tool since it helps the specialists to diagnose different medical conditions affecting the patient’s health and then determine the correct treatment for its recovery.

04. How is a 2-view Foot X-ray performed?

On the day of the X-ray testing, the hospital staff will give you a robe and ask you to remove any metallic objects you might wear on you. It's highly important that you inform the technician if you are pregnant, or have any metallic object or parts in the foot area, such as a prosthesis or jewellery.

Before the x-ray, you will remove your shoes and socks, and any metal objects, such as jewellery or buckles, that might interfere with the x-ray images.

Right after, the technician will give you instructions on the positions you need to take for the scanning:

  • First of all, you will need to stand up in front of the x-ray machine, with your foot specifically positioned as the technician indicates to you at the moment. The radiologist might provide you with pads or blocks to help maintain the correct position through the scanning.
  • Capture of the images: the technician will take both images of the foot. During the process, the radiologist will give you instructions on how to maintain the correct position at all times throughout the scanning.
  • Sometimes, if the first scanning of the foot is not clear enough, it may be necessary to take additional images.

After taking both images, the test will be completed. The radiologist will check the images to be sure that these have the quality required before the patient leaves the clinic.

05. Foot X-ray (2 views) Results

Once the X-ray has been taken, the radiologist will prepare a report with the interpretation of the images extracted from the 2-views Foot X-ray.

After a few days, you will receive the results. Normally, you will be given the tests in digital format, as well as a report specifying the most important observations of the test. However, you can find out how and when the results will be delivered on the day of the test or when you call the hospital/clinic to make an appointment.

Frequent Questions

  • Generally, x-rays are safe and don’t cause severe side effects . However, as with any medical procedure involving radiation, there is a small risk associated with the exposure of X-rays; thus it is always important that this type of test is prescribed by a specialist based on your state of health.

The amount of radiation in an x-ray is quite low and is only limited to the area of the body to be examined. The exposure to radiation is generally compared to the natural exposure that we receive in our daily environment.

The benefits of an x-ray in early detection and diagnosis of diseases overcome the small risk of radiation exposure. It is always recommendable to speak with your doctor about any hesitation on the conditions and risks of having radiation exposure before a diagnostic test.

  • Operarme Tests vouchers are valid for 30 days (from the date of purchase)

In the event that you purchase the test and realise that you are not going to have it done in those 30 days, please contact us on +34 91 141 33 56 to notify us, and extend the validity of the voucher.

  • If you attend without a prescription, you won’t have the X-ray done. It’s likely that the hospital staff may refer you to a private consultation first. This consultation is not included in the price of the Foot X-ray test you purchase on Operarme’s website and it is possible that the cost of the consultation at the hospital is higher than the preferential price published on our website for Operarme patients.

If you need a prescription, you can first purchase and attend a private consultation with one of our specialists and tell the doctor about the symptoms you have; if the doctor considers an X-ray is necessary, he/she will hand you a prescription for the test.

  • The delivery of results is different in each clinic/hospital, so you will be informed of this on the day of the test. You can also ask when you call the clinic to make an appointment for the test.
