This option, despite being more expensive due to the need for 6 implants, is the one chosen in many cases by patients who are missing all their teeth or when the teeth they have cannot be maintained due to caries, periodontitis, etc.

They are designed and manufactured with CAD-CAM using the information obtained from the impressions made with an intraoral scanner or with analogue impressions, which will be taken by the dental team. Once you decide to go ahead with the treatment, the metal-ceramic prosthesis is manufactured.

Dental implant treatment consists of two parts: one is the implant itself, which is the equivalent of the root of the tooth and which is placed in the bone, and the other part on top, it’s where a crown or dental prosthesis must be placed. The day of the appointment you will have a double consultation: first with the general odontologist, who will perform a check-up of your oral health and confirm the need of an implant. Afterwards, you will meet the implantologist who will inform you about the dental implants options, and will perform an examination of your dental health to rule out any risks or complications.

During this first free consultation, you will take an orthopantomography (for free), which will give the specialist more detailed information of the current state of your oral health. 

In the event that you, along with the specialist, decide that a prosthesis on 6 implants is the best option for your case, the date of the intervention can be set during the same consultation. In any case, our Patient Service team will contact you to see how the consultation went and if you go ahead with the process, they will help you manage the whole process.

As in any surgical procedure, a preoperative study must be carried out, in the case of dentistry known as a complete implantological study.

The tests usually performed prior to the intervention are an orthopantomography, and a 3D radiological study (allows to make a virtual reconstruction of the maxillary-mandibular area to prepare the planning of the surgery).

In addition to the above, prior to the intervention, the prosthesis that you will be fitted with will be manufactured. This prosthesis is manufactured exclusively for you based on the measurements taken by the clinic's dentistry and implantology team.

There is a possibility that a bone graft or sinus lift may be necessary. If this is the case, the implantology specialist will tell you beforehand, and you will be offered a fixed quote for the additional treatment you require.

The surgery is performed in two stages:

1st stage:

• The surgery will begin with the application of local anaesthesia, as soon as it has taken effect, the specialist will place the surgical guide in the mouth, and make a small incision to remove part of the tissue and get access to the bone.
• The next step is to use a small surgical drill to drill the bone at low speed, intermittently to keep a close eye on the temperature, while irrigating the area with a cold sterile saline solution.
• Once the hole has been made, the specialist places the implant. This process will be repeated in the same session up to six times, so the duration of the procedure is up to two hours, depending on each case.
• Right after, the areas of the gum where the incision was made will be sutured so that it can heal properly.
• Once the area has been sutured, you will be given a gum pressure gauze, which you will need to hold for at least 30 minutes.

Once the first stage has been performed, you will be given the instructions about the care you will need to follow at home, and also about the visits you need to attend for the stitches to be removed.

It is recommendatory to come to the clinic with a friend or relative, since after the surgery, whether sedation has been used or not, it is advisable to avoid driving.

2nd stage:

• After 3-4 months, healing is complete and osseointegration of the implant is complete. You will have to attend several appointments, where different tests are carried out until the prosthesis is finally fitted.
• During these visits, you will meet again with the implantologist who carried out the implants collocation. The process goes as the following:

• 5th visit: placement of healing abutments.
• 6th visit (1 week later): impressions for prosthesis 12 crowns on implants.
• 7th visit (1 week later): passivity and impaction test.
• 8th visit (1 week later): Tooth test.
• 9th visit (1 week later): Metal framework test.
• 10th visit (1 week later): Cake test.

Before you leave, you will be given an appointment to return the following week for the definitive fitting of the prosthesis, and you will also be informed of the care you should follow during this time.

In the following week, after taking all the necessary tests, you will return to the clinic to have your definitive prosthesis implanted.

On this day, the specialist will proceed to check that the treatment has been continued and successfully completed, and the definitive prosthesis will be screwed in.

You will need to follow some indications during and after the treatment in regards to hygiene and oral health:

• Superficial cleaning of the teeth with conventional brushing, either with a manual or electric toothbrush, as is done with the original denture.
• Additional cleaning to remove debris that accumulates under the prosthesis, which can be carried out with a series of oral tools that allow this:
• Dental floss: to clean plaque debris.
• Interproximal brushes. This brush is used to clean the prosthetic parts and the gum.
• Oral irrigator. This tool sprays a jet of water under the prosthesis and washes away food debris.
