Frequent Questions
-
Do I need to bring diagnostic tests to the assessment consultation?
Yes, in order for the specialist to assess the particular case of the patient and her partner and the viability of the IVF treatment, previous diagnostic tests, also known as the Couple's Fertility Study, must be provided.
This diagnostic plan aims to diagnose the couple's fertility by means of a series of tests including an ultrasound scan, a gynaecological examination, a sperm survival test and the Antimullerian hormone test.
You can read more detailed information about the Couple Fertility Study by clicking here.
-
Is embryo cryopreservation included in the price?
No, the cryopreservation of surplus embryos (unlimited number of embryos) is not included in the fixed price.
On the other hand, 2 years of embryo maintenance is included in the fixed price of the treatment if the patient wishes to opt for the cryopreservation service.
For further information, please do not hesitate to contact our Patient Service team on +34 91 141 33 56
-
What services are not included in the price for IVF treatment?
The fixed price for IVF treatment does not include the following services:
- Cryopreservation of surplus embryos (unlimited number of embryos).
- Medication required for the ovarian stimulation phase.
- Fertility study of the couple (preliminary tests necessary to diagnose the couple's fertility).
- Transfer and implantation of cryopreserved embryos.
- Complementary techniques that may be necessary to complete the IVF treatment.
-
How many hours of fasting are required for ovarian puncture?
This procedure requires attending on an empty stomach: previous 6 hours without eating or drinking.
-
What complementary techniques may be recommended by the specialist during the IVF process?
Some of the complementary techniques that the specialist may recommend to a patient for her particular case are the following:
- MACS: a technique that allows the immunomagnetic selection of healthy and optimal spermatozoa for egg fertilisation.
- IMSI: sperm selection technique that allows biologists to select spermatozoa without defects or with fewer alliterations for sperm microinjection.
- Fertile Chip: advanced sperm selection technique that allows spermatozoa with better physiological characteristics to be recovered in certain cases of male infertility.
- Genetic Compatibility Test: genetic test to determine the existence of mutations in order to minimise the risk of transmitting genetic diseases to offspring.
- Embryoscope (time-lapse): incubator with time-lapse technology that can optimise culture conditions with respect to conventional methods, and which could increase the chances of achieving pregnancy.
- Long culture: in this technique the culture (5-6 days) allows improving the embryo selection before the transfer in the case of having several embryos to choose from.
- Sedation for embryo transfer: it is possible to perform the embryo transfer under sedation in the event that the introduction of the cannula is very complicated due to anatomical problems of the patient.
- Duostim: consists of carrying out, within the same treatment, two consecutive stimulations without waiting for menstruation.
- PGD: a technique that allows the genetic examination of embryos obtained through in vitro fertilisation to detect chromosomal abnormalities.
