01. Information on Phimosis Surgery with CircCurer
Phimosis is a condition defined as a narrowing of the foreskin opening that prevents the glans from being partially or fully uncovered.
This condition makes it difficult to maintain proper penile hygiene and often causes pain during sexual intercourse.
The main causes associated with this disorder are congenital — meaning it is present from birth. However, young men and adults can also develop this condition due to various factors:
- Recurrent balanoposthitis: Inflammation of the glans and foreskin due to infection or the use of harsh soaps for hygiene, and certain types of balanitis (penile infection).
- Penile trauma.
The definitive procedure to solve the problems and limitations caused by phimosis is circumcision.
02. What is stapler circumcision surgery?
Stapler circumcision is a modern, minimally invasive surgical techniqueused to remove the foreskin (the tissue covering the head of the penis).
It involves a specialized medical device — a circumcision stapler — designed to cut and simultaneously seal the wound, reducing bleeding and speeding up the recovery process.
The circumcision stapler available in Operarme is a CircCurer stapler.
Benefits of Stapler Circumcision
- Less bleeding: The built-in stapler seals blood vessels immediately, minimizing blood loss.
- Faster recovery: Patients often experience less pain and swelling, leading to quicker healing (usually 1-2 weeks).
- Lower risk of infection: The clean cut and fast closure reduce the chance of infection.
- Cosmetic results: The method typically leaves a smoother, more symmetrical appearance compared to traditional circumcision.
- Shorter surgery duration: The procedure is swift and efficient.
03. Surgical assessment consultation and pre-circumcision study

Consultation with Urology Specialist
During the assessment consultation, the specialist will ask you about the symptoms you are experiencing and the discomfort caused by phimosis, explaining the possibilities provided by the procedure.
Similarly, if you are undergoing circumcision surgery for aesthetic reasons, inform the doctor so they can determine how you would like the outcome to look, ensuring you are satisfied with the results of the procedure.

After the consultation, the following day, Operarme’s patient service team will contact you to check how the consultation went and confirm whether you have decided to proceed with the surgery or not.
If you decide to go ahead, your patient advisor will arrange the day for the coagulation test, if necessary, as well as the day of admission to the hospital.
They will explain all the steps to follow regarding documentation, payment for the surgery, etc., and will address any questions you may have during the process.
Pre-operative Study and Consultation with the Anaesthetist
On the day scheduled for the coagulation test, you should go to the hospital with the necessary documentation (don't worry, our patient service team will have provided this information). Only one test will be performed:
- Coagulation test: This test helps determine if the patient's blood coagulates properly.
Typically, in more complex surgeries, several additional tests are performed, such as a chest X-ray or an electrocardiogram. However, in the case of a stapler circumcision surgery, which is a very simple procedure lasting just over 20 minutes with local anesthesia and sedation, these additional tests are not necessary.
Sedation allows the patient to remain fully asleep during the surgery, reducing stress and anxiety during the procedure.
For stapler circumcision, the anesthesia used is local, so the area being treated will be completely numb throughout the procedure.
It is important to note that this is an outpatient procedure lasting between 20-30 minutes, and you will be able to go home after recovering from the effects of the anesthesia without the need for hospitalization.
04. Stapler circumcision surgery (with CircCurer): step-by-step
On the day scheduled for the circumcision surgery, you should go to the hospital with the necessary documentation for the procedure, which your patient advisor from the Operarme Patient Service Department will have provided in advance.
After being admitted, you will be taken to a room where you will wait to enter the operating room. It is possible that antibiotics will be given to you before the procedure to prevent the possibility of infection, although this is not a common practice.

Upon entering the operating room for the procedure, you will meet the specialist and a nursing assistant from the team.
Circumcision with the CircCurer System lasts only about 30 minutes.
You will lie on the operating table in the position indicated by the surgeon, typically lying on your back with your legs elevated and spread apart, and a surgical sheet will be placed over your body, leaving only the area to be treated exposed.
The procedure will then begin:
- First, the penis will be washed and disinfected, followed by the administration of local anesthesia to the area. The team will wait briefly for the anesthesia to take effect before starting the surgery.
- Once the anesthesia takes effect, the specialist will place the bell of the CircCurer system over the foreskin, covering the glans. They will also attach the foreskin to the column of the bell.
- After adapting the main body of the device with the bell and tightening the adjustment knob, the circumcision suturing device will be triggered.
- Following this, the device will be removed, and the treated area will be bandaged, completing the procedure.
- You will then be taken to a recovery room where you will recover from the effects of the anesthesia.
Once you recover from the effects of the anesthesia, you will be able to get dressed and will be given your hospital discharge to return home.
Complete recovery after circumcision occurs about a month after the surgery.
Once the circumcision is performed, it is important to follow proper post-operative care to avoid possible complications. The specialist or their team will explain the post-operative care for the surgical wound, as well as some recommendations.
They will also prescribe painkillers to alleviate any discomfort you may experience. In this case, aspirin should never be used, as it thins the blood and can hinder the healing process.
