Once the test has been completed, the centre will inform you how long the results will take and will provide them in digital format.
Each centre has its own way of delivering the results:some will send them by email, while others will do so through their own applications or online platforms. In any case, the centre’s team will inform you how to access them at the end of the test.

In Spain, a medical prescription is required to undergo any diagnostic test. If you do not have one, you will need to attend a consultation with a specialist beforehand in order to obtain it.
Below, we explain the process step by step, both if you have a prescription and if you do not:
You have a medical prescription
- Purchase the test as usual.
- Immediately afterwards, we will send you an email to the address used for the purchase with instructions on how to send us the medical prescription so that we can arrange the appointment.
- With the medical prescription, we will be able to verify that the diagnostic test purchased corresponds to the one indicated by the specialist.
- We will arrange your appointment with a date and time so that you can attend the hospital of your choice to undergo the test.
You do not have a medical prescription
If you do not have a medical prescription, Operarme will arrange a consultation with one of our specialists at a preferential price(subject to availability in the area). Contact us for more information.
During the consultation, you will be able to inform the doctor about the test you need. They may ask you for a medical report related to your condition, if required for the test you need to undergo.
Remember: on the day of the test, you must bring and present your Operarme purchase voucher and the medical prescription.

Refund of the amount if the test is not performed
If, after purchasing the test, you decide not to undergo it or the appointment date does not suit your needs, you may request a refund. In these cases, we will refund the full amount of your purchase without any issue.

What is a Repetitive Nerve Stimulation Test?
A repetitive nerve stimulation test is a neurophysiological test that analyses the connection and transmission between the nerve and the muscle (neuromuscular junction).
The aim of this test is to establish whether there is a stable or unstable connection between the nerve and the muscle, and to measure how the latter responds to stimuli.
To analyse this transmission, small electrical stimuli are applied to the muscle area to be examined with the help of electrodes.
What is the difference between a repetitive nerve stimulation test and a single-fibre electromyography?
Although both tests analyse the transmission at the neuromuscular junction, the main difference is that repetitive stimulation evaluates the global response of the muscle to the electrical stimuli delivered with surface electrodes on the skin, whereas single-fibre electromyography evaluates individual muscle fibres with a fine needle.
Which patients is this test recommended for?
Mainly patients with suspected neuromuscular transmission problems who could be suffering from any of the following pathologies:
- Myasthenia Gravis (the most common pathology when there are alterations in neuromuscular transmission).
- Patients with muscle weakness without a clear origin.
- Patients with double vision or who suffer from a drooping eyelid.
- Patients presenting difficulty chewing or swallowing.

How is a repetitive nerve stimulation test performed at the Hospital Universitario HLA Moncloa?
On the day of the scheduled appointment, you attend the Hospital Universitario HLA Moncloa with your voucher and your medical prescription to undergo the test.
This diagnostic test is performed by a neurophysiology specialist and does not require any prior preparation:- The specialist places electrodes on your skin over the muscle to be examined.
- Small continuous electrical pulses are applied to the muscle to record muscle responses.
- To determine a diagnosis, the specialist specifically analyses the progression of the muscle response after the repetition of the electrical stimuli.
The test may be slightly uncomfortable for you due to the small electrical discharges on the muscle, but it does not inflict pain.
This test does not require prior preparation but it is important that you arrive with clean skin, without creams or oils; and it is also important that you inform the specialist if you are taking medications for a prescribed treatment, or if you wear a pacemaker or another implanted device.
The repetitive nerve stimulation test usually lasts between 20 and 40 minutes.
How long do the results of the repetitive stimulation test take?
The results of the Repetitive Stimulation Test are usually available at the time of the test. Even so, in some centres the results report is delivered after 2 or 3 days.
