NOT Included - Medical prescription
In Spain, a medical prescription is required for any diagnostic test. If you do not have one, you will need to see a specialist beforehand to obtain one.
Below, we explain the process step by step, whether you have it or not:
If you have a medical prescription
- Purchase the test as normal.
- Immediately afterwards, we will send you the instructions for you to send us the medical prescription to the e-mail address you used to make the purchase, so that we can manage the appointment.
- With the medical prescription we will be able to check that the diagnostic test purchased corresponds to the one indicated by the specialist.
- We will arrange your appointment with a date and time so that you can go to the hospital of your choice to undergo the test.
You do not have a medical prescription
If you do not have a medical prescription, Operarme will arrange a consultation with one of our specialists at a preferential price (subject to availability in the area). Contact us for more information.
During the consultation you will be able to inform the doctor about the test you need. He/she may ask you for a report in relation to your medical problem, if the test you need to have requires it.
If you do not have a prescription or report associated with the reason for the diagnostic test, it is likely that you will be referred to a face-to-face consultation. If this is your case, contact us for advice on how to proceed.
Remember: on the day of the test you must bring and show the Operarme voucher and the medical prescription.
-
Refund if test is not carried out
If after purchasing the test you decide not to take it or the date of the appointment does not suit your needs, you can request a refund. In these cases, we will refund you the full amount of your purchase without any problem.
To do so, please contact our customer service team before the date of the appointment, and we will manage the refund quickly and easily.

01. All about Gynaecological Doppler Ultrasound
If you need to have a Gynaecological Doppler Ultrasound, through Operarme you can purchase the service only for 69 € and diagnose any possible anomalies you may have in the blood vessels of the female reproductive organs, so your doctor can recommend the best treatment for you.
What should you take into account before purchasing this type of ultrasound?
If you need a Gynaecological Doppler Ultrasound, first you must have a medical prescription from your doctor or specialist.
In the event that you don’t have one but are interested in having a gynaecological doppler ultrasound, you can first purchase and attend a private consultation with one of our specialists and tell the doctor about the symptoms you have; if the doctor considers an ultrasound is necessary, he/she will hand you a prescription for the test.
Once you’ve purchased the gynaecological doppler ultrasound, you will automatically receive an email with your medical voucher, information regarding the service and the hospital, and also an invoice of the test purchased.
Right after, you have to call the selected hospital/clinic’s contact number (indicated in the voucher), and request an appointment to take the test.
On the day of the appointment, you will need to take the prescription with you. If you attend without a prescription, it’s likely that the hospital staff may refer you to a private consultation first. This consultation is not included in the price of the gynaecological doppler ultrasound you purchase on Operarme’s website and it is possible that the cost of the consultation at the hospital is higher than the preferential price published on our website for Operarme patients.
If you need another type of test, you can consult our diagnostic tests section and choose the one that best suits your needs (mammary ultrasound, gynaecological ultrasound, arterial doppler ultrasound, MRI, X-rays, etc).
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact our Patient Service Team on +34 91 141 33 56, or leave a contact form and we will get back to you as soon as possible.
02. What is a Gynaecological Doppler Ultrasound?
When combining the information obtained by an ultrasound and a doppler, we can obtain precise images of the female reproductive organs and at the same time, the direction and velocity of blood flow in the surrounding blood vessels can be assessed.

This test provides valuable information about the vascularisation of the organs, the blood flow patrons, and the detection of possible abnormalities.
A Gynaecological Doppler Ultrasound is performed in different clinical settings, such as the evaluation of vascularisation of the female reproductive organs, the detection and check-ups of tumours, the evaluation of uterine fibroids, the analysis of blood flow in the uterine vessels during pregnancy, and the evaluation of fertility.
A doppler ultrasound is a non-invasive, painless and safe test, since it uses ultrasound waves instead of ionising radiation.
It is performed by placing a transducer on the skin in the area of interest, which emits and receives ultrasound waves. A radiologist or ultrasound specialist interprets the results and provides a diagnostic report.
03. What can a gynaecological doppler ultrasound detect?
A Gynaecological Doppler ultrasound is performed for several purposes including:
- Assessing blood circulation in the female reproductive organs, such as the uterus and ovaries.
- Detection of abnormalities in the uterine blood vessels during pregnancy, such as pre-eclampsia or intrauterine growth retardation.
- Assess the vascularity of uterine fibroids (benign tumours of the uterus) or ovarian tumours.
- Assist in the evaluation of infertility by analysing blood flow to the uterus and ovaries.
04. How is a gynaecological doppler ultrasound performed?
A Gynaecological Doppler ultrasound is performed through an ultrasonic transducer which is applied to the gynaecological area. A conductive gel is used to help transmit the ultrasound waves.
The specialist moves softly the transducer on the area to obtain the images and precise measures of the blood flow.
Generally, no special preparation is required for a Doppler ultrasound. However, the patient may be asked to drink water before the test in order to have a full bladder, which facilitates visualisation of the reproductive organs.
05. How long does a doppler ultrasound take?
A gynaecological doppler ultrasound can take between 15-30 minutes, depending on the extent of the study and the complexity of the clinical situation.
Once the exploration has been completed, the radiologist or ultrasound specialist will interpret the images and the results obtained; a diagnostic report will be prepared and given to the requesting doctor.
06. Gynaecological Doppler Ultrasound Results
A few days after the ultrasound, you will receive the results. You will generally receive the tests in digital format, as well as a report indicating the most important observations from the test.

Frequent Questions
-
Are the ultrasound waves from an ultrasound scan dangerous?
No, the waves used in an ultrasound scan are not considered hazardous to health. Ultrasound uses high-frequency sound waves, also known as ultrasound.
Ultrasound does not produce ionising radiation, like x-rays, so there is no risk of radiation exposure during a Gynecological Doppler Ultrasound. In addition, the ultrasound waves used in ultrasound have a very low intensity and are focused on a specific area of the body, which further reduces any possible harmful effects.
Ultrasound has been widely used for decades and has not been shown to have significant adverse health effects on either the patients or the health professionals performing the test. It is a safe and non-invasive technique that is routinely used in medical diagnosis, especially during pregnancy for obstetric ultrasound.
However, it is important to note that, as with any medical procedure, ultrasound should be used appropriately and justified by a physician or health professional. Clinical guidelines and recommendations should be followed to ensure safe and effective use of this diagnostic technique.

What happens if I buy a doppler ultrasound and don't have it?
Operarme Tests vouchers are valid for 30 days (from the date of purchase)
In the event that you purchase the test and realise that you are not going to have it done in those 30 days, please contact us on +34 91 141 33 56 to notify us, and extend the validity of the voucher.
-
What happens if I go to the clinic without a prescription?
If you attend without a prescription, you won’t have the ultrasound done. It’s likely that the hospital staff may refer you to a private consultation first. This consultation is not included in the price of the Doppler Ultrasound test you purchase on Operarme’s website and it is possible that the cost of the consultation at the hospital is higher than the preferential price published on our website for Operarme patients.
If you need a prescription, you can first purchase and attend a private consultation with one of our specialists and tell the doctor about the symptoms you have; if the doctor considers an arterial doppler ultrasound is necessary, he/she will hand you a prescription for the test.
-
How long does it take to get the results?
The delivery of results is different in each clinic/hospital, so you will be informed of this on the day of the test. You can also ask when you call the centre to make an appointment for the test.
